The Big Day of Serving in Manassas

Saturday, 05/05/2012 7:00 AM

The City of Manassas, Colorado-based Group Cares and their community partners won the 2010 and 2011 Virginia State Neighborhood Youth Effort of the Year Awards for the 1 By Youth (now "The Big Day of Serving") projects in Georgetown South (April 24, 2010) and Point of Woods 1, 2 & 3 (May 14, 2011). On May 5, 2012 we're inviting youth and their adult leaders to take on and help us transform the Bristoe Station neighborhood in one big day of neighborhood revitalization tasks. The $29 per person registration fee pays for a morning rally, materials and supplies, lunch, devotional materials for a mid-day break and a big block party celebration to finish the day. Out-of-town groups are encouraged to find local accomodations and make the rest of the weekend a fun time of sightseeing at historic sites around the City of Manassas and beyond.Attachments

Brian Stokes Mitchell

Saturday, 05/05/2012 8:00 PM

Dubbed Broadway’s “Last Leading Man” by The New York Times, this tremendous baritone is in a class by himself. He has conquered Broadway, cinema, and television with his musical versatility and a “chameleonic” ability to evoke any emotion. His matinee idol good looks and thrilling voice—which The New York Times calls “richly tailored, warm and resonant”—has landed him leading roles in Broadway’s Man of La Mancha; Kiss Me, Kate; Ragtime; and King Hedley II. He has also been a featured actor in several television shows including “Frasier” and “Trapper John, M.D.” Now, Brian Stokes Mitchell comes to the Hylton Center with his dynamic repertoire of timeless show tunes, ballads, jazz standards, and classic love songs, like “Embraceable You,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” and his showstopper “The Impossible Dream.” Don’t miss this evening of world-class entertainment by “a singer who dares you to be happier than you ever dreamed!” (The New York Times) $44, $52, $60Attachments
