Upcoming Manassas Museum Basement to Attic Tours of Liberia Plantation on November 13 will offer visitors a rare glimpse into the historic 1825 house where both Confederate and Union forces set up headquarters during the Civil War. Visitors on the tours will be greeted by Mrs. Weir, who with her husband William James Weir, owned the home during the Civil War. Tours begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Tickets are $15 each and should be purchased in advance. Directions to Liberia will be provided and the tours will be conducted rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. Handicapped access is available for the first floor only.
Visitors can also hear about Civil War graffiti discovered during recent restoration efforts. Those on tour can imagine Liberia in all its splendor when hoop skirts rustled and dashing officers roamed its halls.
