EAA Chapter 186 presents Wings Over Manassas, an exciting day of aviation activities for kids ages 13-17! Ground school instruction and introductory flight experiences highlight this action-packed day. This program combines "in-the-air" and "on-the-ground" hands-on activities. The adventure includes presentations by American Helicopters, the United States Air Force, Lockheed Martin Flight Service, and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. You will take a tour of the airport control tower, learn how airplanes and helicopters fly, learn how to preflight an airplane, visit a jet center, and take part in a scavenger hunt at the Freedom Museum. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by Chick-fil-A. Plus games, t-shirts, prizes, certificates! All this takes place at the Manassas Regional Airport in Manassas, Virginia. 10629 Observation Rd, Manassas, VA 20110 (EAA 186 Chapter House, Manassas Regional Airport) http://eaa186youngeagles.org/ This event is limited to 30 participants, so be sure to register right away. AND THERE'S MORE! An EAA Young Eagles Rally with FREE airplane and helicopter rides will take place immediately following the Wings Over Manassas program! Each teen (ages 13-17) will fly with a licensed, local EAA member pilot. Most Young Eagle flights last between 15 and 20 minutes. Each person who flies will also receive an official EAA Certificate and Young Eagles logbook signed by their personal pilot. Young Eagle flights are offered free of charge and made possible through the generosity of local EAA members who are volunteering their time, aircraft, and fuel. 2:00pm - 3:00pm Separate registration for each event is required.

Celebrate America this Independence Day with one of the largest fireworks displays in Northern Virginia! It's an all-American party in Old Town Manassas, sponsored by the City of Manassas and Historic Manassas, Inc.!
The party surrounds the Old Town train depot, the Harris Pavilion and the Manassas Museum. There will be great rides for the kids starting at 3PM. The rest of the fun, including food concessions, novelty vendors and live entertainment will begin at 4PM.
Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets and come early to get the best seats on the Manassas Museum Lawn for the firework display at 9:15PM!

Old Town Manassas will hold its 3rd Annual Bands, Brews, and Barbecue Festival on September 28, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This year, the event will be held on the Manassas Museum Lawn (9101 Prince William Street) and therefore expanding our inventory of beers and great barbecue.
Entrance into the Festival will be FREE! Attendees may purchase individual beer sampling tickets inside the gate. Please make sure to bring a valid ID.
Picnic on the lawn, while you enjoy some of Virginia’s finest barbecue or listen to everything from classic rock to jazz.

With over 100 crafter and community booths, live music and entertainment, wine tastings in our very own Wine Garden (located on the Manassas Museum lawn), farmer's market, children's rides and activities and a pumpkin patch you are sure to find something for everyone in the family! The Manassas Museum will offer free admission this day!

Garry Krinsky has educated audiences for more than 35 years with his entertaining style. His extensive theater background, non-stop energy, and animated movement has even earned him the reputation of being a "living cartoon." The Golden Ticket is Somewhere in Old Town Manassas!
In the movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a young boy finds a golden ticket that wins him a chance to tour the fantastic candy factory. Historic Manassas, Inc. has come up with the idea of the Merry Old Town Chocolate Bar. On Tues., Nov. 4th, the Merry Old Town Chocolate Bar will go on sale at participating merchants in Old Town Manassas.
FIVE of these milk chocolate bars contains the prized Golden Ticket. The lucky children that find the Golden Tickets will win the opportunity to be Santa’s guest on his float in the 68th Annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 7th. A parent or guardian will be able accompany the winner, if necessary.

Merry Old Town: Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Make time to enjoy old-fashioned family fun at the "Merry Old Town" celebration in Old Town Manassas! The holiday fun begins at 5:30p.m. with holiday music and at 6:00p.m.when Santa arrives at the Manassas Depot via VRE train.
The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be at 6:30 at the Manassas Museum. Take a free hayride around Old Town and go for a skate at the Harris Pavilion ice rink. Of course, Santa will hear the Christmas wishes of all the children at the Harris Pavilion gazebo.
