Community Canvas Silent Auction
Friday, September 28, 2007
Manassas, VA (September 28, 2007)Once again its time for First Fridays in Old Town Manassas. October 5 is the first Friday of the month, which means that once again the shops and galleries of Old Town Manassas will host Friday After 5, a monthly chance for locals and visitors to stroll the streets of Old Town Manassas in the evening. Many merchants will be offering refreshments, entertainment and a few surprises until 9PM. The community canvas that residents and visitors have been contributing to at Creative Brush Studio is now complete, and currently on display in the studio window at 9082 Center Street in old Town Manassas. A rendering inspired by a painting by Monet, over 150 people have worked on it from children as young as 3 up to adults in their 80's. Most of the people had no painting experience but helped with at least a few strokes. A few experienced artists helped pull it all together. The community canvas was started during the July Friday After 5, and has progressed throughout the summer. Bids are now being accepted for this original oil painting during a silent auction at Creative Brush Studio. Those interested can submit a minimum bid of $100.00 along with their contact information. According to Mary Reilly of Creative Brush, the painting is worth much more, and will be framed through the donation of Turner Associates, a wholesale frame manufacture located in Ashburn. The retail value of the frame alone will be between $150.00 and $300.00. The highest bidder will receive the framed painting, and all proceeds from the sale will go to a charity that is mutually agreed upon by both Creative Brush Studio and the highest bidder. In the case of multiple high bids of the same amount, the winner will be chosen by random drawing of those bids. Bids will be accepted all week including during the Fall Jubilee on October 6. Bidding will close at 5:00 on Saturday October13th. For further information about the auction contact Mary Reilly at Creative Brush Studio, 703-335-8005.For more information about Historic Manassas, Inc. visit our website at www.visitmanassas.org.
