Molasses, ginger, flour, and baking soda – were just a few of the ingredients Gingerbread House contestants needed to shop for to get ready for this year’s annual Gingerbread House Contest, held in Old Town Manassas over the holiday season. For over 5 years now, Historic Manassas, Inc. has displayed the talents of local amateur “architects” in Old Town shop windows during the annual Merry Old Town festivities. The public was invited to view the various structures and vote on their favorite Child and Adult gingerbread houses both in the shops and on-line; and vote they did.

On Tues., Nov. 6, the Merry Old Town Chocolate Bar will go on sale at participating merchants in Old Town Manassas, including Echoes- The Manassas Museum, Dublin of Old Town, The Things I Love, Whimsical Galerie, Grounds Central Station (formerly known as Simply Sweet on Main), Opera House Gourmet, Persnickety Cakes, and the Manassas Visitor’s Center. One of these milk chocolate bars contains the prized Golden Ticket. The lucky child (or adult) that finds the Golden Ticket will win the opportunity to be Santa’s guest on his float in the 67th Annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade.

Stacy Keach who has joined the faculty at George Mason University and has agreed to be our Grand Marshall on December 1st at 10am.
